United States GP – FP2: Perez the fastest, Verstappen embarrassed |

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez set the fastest time in the second free practice session of the United States Grand Prix in 1.34.946 (Soft).

The Mexican is two tenths ahead of the McLaren driven by Lando Norris (Tender) and the Mercedes of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton by three tenths (Tender).

Behind, Valtteri Bottas (+0.414), Daniel Ricciardo (+0.511), Lance Stroll (+0.615), Charles Leclerc (+0.626), Max Verstappen (+0.878), Carlos Sainz (+0.973) and Antonio Giovinazzi (+1.192) complete the top ten of this relatively calm session.

Verstappen and Hamilton already in the fight

While this is only free practice, the two title rivals, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, exchanged pleasantries on the track this Friday. The two found themselves side by side in the main straight and neither of them wanted to ease off as they approached the first turn.

It was finally Lewis Hamilton – positioned on the inside of the bend – who passed first, which did not please the Red Bull driver who did not hesitate to call the seven-time world champion an idiot while raising his hand above his cockpit.

Verstappen embarrassing

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen never managed to complete a fast lap without being hampered by traffic this Friday in Austin. However, the Dutchman had just taken the record in sector 1 when he decided to ease off by arriving on other cars and return to the garage to concentrate on the long stints. We will therefore have to wait a little longer to see the potential of Red Bull on this track.

Alonso in the wall

In the last minutes of the session, Alpine driver Fernando Alonso made a mistake at turn 19. His car then hit the tire barrier in reverse, but the Spaniard was able to start again and immediately return to the pit. .
