Sports: the four professional clubs of the metropolis of Orleans are in bad shape

At the third or quarter of the season, the situation of professional collective sports teams is hardly enviable, when she’s not worried. Details.

US Orléans knows it has to perform this season, his second consecutive in National and therefore normally the last before his professional status is withdrawn, but it is, for the moment, far from the account. Only 12th in its championship, while we have passed the first third of the year, the team led by Xavier Collin since this summer has only a small point ahead of the red zone and already twelve behind on the podium.

We have to recognize him at best these days, with a series of six games without defeat, in all competitions and the start of an epic in the Coupe de France. The draw for the 7th round, which had sent him to Corsica last Friday, to AC Ajaccio, third in Ligue 2, had not yet spoiled. We will quickly know if his performance (0-0, 3 shots on goal to 4) is the sign of a lasting renewal or a simple twist in a failed season.

His current split times are hardly reassuring, with only three wins in nearly four months of the championship and an attack not worthy of a candidate for the climb (13 goals in 13 matches).

Quarter-finalist of the last French championship, Orléans Loiret Basket supports, with two victories in eight days, the red lantern of Betclic elite with Paris and Le Portel. In the offseason, when many consolidated their budgets and strengthened their workforce, the club lost part of its financial resources and most of its workforce. Late recruitment, injuries, unavailability of the sports center (hence six trips in the first nine days) partly explain the difficulties encountered by the OLB at the start of the season?; but only in part.

The club agrees that, to avoid a relegation which would be catastrophic a few months from integrating CO’Met and its large hall, should soon add a new (foreign) player to its group.

To date, the Métropole d’Orléans has still not communicated the amount of its subsidy granted to the two professional clubs of the agglomeration for the season … in progress! It would be a question of an envelope equal to that of last season for the Fleury HB (Women’s League) and a slightly higher aid for the Septors de Saran (Men’s Starligue), linked to new, factual services.

Without Jean-Pierre Gontier, his ex-president and main sponsor, the FLHB, last (0 success in 9 matches) of a championship he won in 2015, tossed between the Albert-Auger room in Fleury and the Palais des sports d’Orléans, must now deal with limited financial means.

Nianh’s unscheduled absence, hasty departures for personal reasons (Lacrabère, Uscinowicz) or even injuries or other health concerns (Kamdop, Agathe, Peillon, Wajoka, Sankharé, Thobor, Rizo Gomez today) did not nothing fixed in this year 2021… Especially in a championship where, behind Brest and Metz, the level has grown as the competition has increased.

The Jacques-Mazzuca hall, the land of miracles …

In the Jacques-Mazzuca hall in Saran, we are used to working miracles with so little in the toughest championship in the world. Few, it seems, are aware of it … The Septors have the smallest budget in the Starligue this season. This does not prevent them from being in phase with their goal of maintaining, 14th (with two wins for seven losses) of 16, just above the relegation zone.

The Saran HB is not in financial difficulty like the Fleury HB but the problem is shared, beyond private support: on whom to count in the future, at the level of local communities, to perpetuate its place within the elite?? And, above all, at what height?

But who knows, exactly what is the metropolis’ policy for high-level sport?
