2022 World Cup: qualified and play-offs, the full point

13 tickets have already been distributed for the next World Cup. We take stock.

The Europe zone gave the name of its 10 directly qualified countries while in South America the two giants, Brazil and Argentina, will also go to Qatar in 2022. The host country will of course be present during its World’s own which will take place from November 21 to December 18.

10 qualified in Europe including France

The old Continent has almost delivered all of its participants to the next World Cup since 10 of the 13 nations that will represent it have already been donated. All the first of their respective groups: Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia and Serbia will be in Qatar.

The last three tickets will be distributed following a real obstacle course. The ten nations that came second in their respective pools: Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Ukraine, Wales, Scotland, Turkey, Russia, Poland and North Macedonia are play-offs. These countries are joined by the two Nations League group winners: Austria and the Czech Republic for a mini-tournament. To put it simply, these twelve nations will have to win two knockout matches to land their ticket for Qatar.

Africa knows its dams

Unlike Europe, the African continent did not qualify any nation directly following the qualifiers. Thus, the first ten of each group obtained a place of jump-off. Algeria, Tunisia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo will participate in these roadblocks to try to obtain one of the five tickets distributed. Note, the absence of CΓ΄te d’Ivoire who finished second in their group behind Cameroon and will not participate in the next world.

Suspense behind Brazil and Argentina

The two giants of South America have already qualified for the 2022 World Cup. But behind nothing is done for the other two tickets. Ecuador (3rd, 23pts) already has a foothold in Qatar. Six teams, who stand in just four points, will compete for fourth directly qualifying place and fifth place, synonymous with play-offs. Among the best known: Colombia (4th, 17pts), Peru (5th, 17pts) Chile (6th, 16pts) and Uruguay (7th, 16pts).

Still no tickets distributed for Qatar in other areas

In North America, where the top three in the Final Round will directly qualify for the next World Cup, Canada dominates the debates ahead of the USA and Mexico. In Asia, Qatar which is the host country has already qualified, otherwise in the qualifiers South Korea and Iran should clinch their direct qualification for the Qatari world championship in Group A. In B there will be a battle to three between Saudi Arabia, Japan and Australia to finish in the first two places and qualify for the next World Cup.
