Sport. Basketball: the return of Valéry Demory as BLMA coach

It’s official: Valéry Demory, the current coach of Lyon basketball club -Asvel- is the new coach of the Montpellier-Lattes club, the BLMA. He should arrive in the evening or this Saturday morning in Montpellier and, in the process, will lead the training of the Gazelles, in Lattes.

Valery Demory is no stranger, since he coached the Gazelles for ten years, from 2007 to 2017. He had left a great memory.

Recently, the sites postup.fr and free always very well informed, had revealed that the coach of BLMA arrived in the summer, Stéphane Leite was laid off at the beginning of the month, a few days before the arrival of the new president, the architect Philippe Sebbane, after Edwige Lawson-Wade was dismissed from her position as sports director.

According to our information, the coach thanked by the club for “heavy faults” would have been dismissed. a spectacular turn of events which has, to date, not been commented on by the club, nor by the person concerned, in particular about the “serious faults” reproached and therefore immediately replaced by the current coach of Lyon. His return to BLMA will be very happy.

This Friday evening, the club of BLMA confirms our information : “A new sporting adventure begins with the arrival of Valéry Demory who replaces Stephane Leite and takes the reins of the professional team from this day. The BLMA opens a new chapter with this man of confidence by signing up for the next four seasons, the duration of his contract. Valery does not sign his arrival in Montpellier but his great comeback after four seasons away from Lattes. He had already officiated for ten years between 2007 and 2017 ”.

In its press release, the club adds that, “Named coach of the year in 2011, Valéry made the heyday of the BLMA by filling the trophy cabinet with no less than seven national titles: two times champion of France, four times winner of the Coupe de France and once winner of the Champions Trophy. A former French international leader, Valéry has technical background and impressive basketball expertise that he can pass on to his entire team. A seasoned manager, he requires the ideal profile to support the major players in the workforce, but also young shoots from the Training Center. A hard worker, he will be able to surround himself with an unchanged technical staff who already have their bearings: Ahmed M’Bombo Njoya is an assistant coach; Clémence Hallard is a physiotherapist; Hugo Lambart is a physical trainer. The whole club warmly thanks Valery for the confidence placed in this new sporting project and remains convinced that it remains the appropriate solution in terms of coaching to establish stability over the coming seasons ”.
