The Covid-19, a real spoiler (s). The government spokesperson said on Wednesday December 22 that the situation was “critique” in France. “We are living the start of an Omicron wave”, said Gabriel Attal. The variant “is progressively going to the majority in several regions of our country, in particular in Ile-de-France, in Paris more particularly. It should be soon at the national level, probably between Christmas and New Year”, warned the spokesperson at the end of the Council of Ministers.
“The epidemic is likely to set off again with a bang”, warned Gabriel Attal, without announcing new measures for the moment to curb its spread. He specified, however, that a “regular reassessment” of the health situation would take place, especially during the Council of Ministers scheduled for next Monday which will adopt the introduction of the vaccine pass.
The spokesperson also reiterated the government’s call “to be careful” launched to the French during family reunions at the end of the year. “There will be no truce for confectioners in our fight against the epidemic”, he promised.
The Minister of Health Olivier Véran had already warned Wednesday on BFMTV-RMC that the number of contaminations should exceed 100,000 per day in France by the end of December because of the very strong contagiousness of Omicron.
