These TV channels shift their prime time schedules after the CSA call to order

TELEVISION – TV channels are adapting. On December 14, the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA) called to order all the TV channels, which show delays of several minutes in the broadcasting of their early evening programs. They therefore announced this Tuesday, December 22 the evolution of their official schedules with an early evening shift of five minutes.

Concretely, rather than freeing up time in their programming, the channels preferred to shift the announced times.

Thus, from January 8, on France 5, the evening programs will start at 9 p.m., on CStar at 9:05 p.m., and on TF1, France 2 and France 3, it will be necessary to wait until 9:10 p.m. For the other channels, no changes have yet been announced. The hours of Canal + remain unchanged for the start of the school year, its encrypted range starts precisely at 9 p.m.

Up to 100,000 euros per ad

With this new shift, the evening may end late. The reasons are partly and for some channels end-of-day talk shows, broadcast live or with a slight offset.

Day-to-day, Do not touch My TV Where You regularly exceed their time slots. Then come the advertisements, which after 9 p.m. are billed very dearly on private channels. “Up to 100,000 euros, the 30 seconds before a particularly watched program!”, Writes theParisian. Advertisements which the chains cannot do without, for obvious financial reasons.

The CSA recalled that if the chains “are free to compose their grid as they wish”, they must respect the schedules previously announced. The audiovisual gendarme will carry out new timetables in the first half of 2022.
