the typical mid-season team

Ligue 1 lived its last evening in 2021 yesterday on the occasion of the 19th day. Here we are at mid-season and the time has come to take stock of this first part of the championship with an eleven decided by the democratic drafting of Foot Market. We asked each of its members who were kind enough to participate a typical team established on their simple judgment, without any predefined list of players by position and in the system of their choice. “In freestyle mode” summed up one of the assessors. At the count, we managed to collect 16 votes for as many different teams. None of them is identical, however, eight players were particularly in demand, including Marquinhos and Mbappé, the only two to be unanimously acclaimed. Here are the results, in 4-3-3, a system called 8 times in the ballot box.

Pau Lopez takes place in the goal. He obtained 6 votes in a position where nobody really burst the screen in this first half of the season. The OM goalkeeper is ahead of his counterparts from OL (Anthony Lopes) and Nice (Walter Benitez), three votes each. Called by 13 of the 16 voters, Jonathan Clauss outclassed the competition at the position of right side, and not of right piston, where he is however used to evolve at RC Lens. On the left, it’s a whole different situation. Nobody is convinced but with 4 ballots, the Monegasque Caio Henrique won by a short header at the expense of Lensois Przemysław Frankowski, Rennais Adrien Truffert, or even Nice Melvin Bard, all tied with 2 votes.

Mbappé and Marquinhos as leaders

In central defense, the debate did not rage. As mentioned above, Marquinhos received full support, 100% of the votes! A plebiscite to make the greatest tyrants turn pale but which rewards the start of the season of the Parisian captain. It evolves in the left axis of this hinge, where it was naturally placed. Once is not custom, the Brazilian makes an association with a Marseillais in the person of William Saliba, aligned in the right axis. Called 10 times, he largely beats the Stade Rennais player, Nayef Aguerd, 5 times cited at the time of the count.

Make way for a three-element midfielder. In this sector of play, 4 candidatures went very far in this campaign and inevitably, there was an unfortunate one. Teji Savanier came very close to joining our typical team but with his 7 votes, he must resolve to leave the place. In low point, we therefore find Seko Fofana, the handyman of the Sang-et-Or, nominated no less than 12 times in the ballot box. To his right, a little notch higher, Lucas Paqueta collected 8 votes, a little more than the Montpellier metronome. The Brazilian from OL was hot but his fabulous period at the start of autumn convinced him. Finally, it is Dimitri Payet who completely this midfield taking place to the left of this triangle. 11 members of our editorial staff assigned a bulletin to the OM captain.

In front, it’s like in central defense, there was no material to trim the fat. Like his teammate Marquinhos, Kylian Mbappé achieved a clear round by receiving 100% of the votes. He is aligned on the left side in an attack with a completely French-speaking accent since he teams up with Jonathan David. The Canadian from Lille has also (almost) convinced everyone, evidenced by his 15 votes out of the box. On the right, our editorial staff have placed great trust in Gaëtan Laborde (10 votes), excellent with Stade Rennais since August. Where these three attackers are doing very well is that they have erased the competition. Almost no other player apart from the chosen trio was approached. Only compositions with two attackers eliminated one of them.
