the profile of the Exbrayat, the missing from Cantal, is becoming clearer

What were the “Cantal missing” people planning to do with a snowmobile? It is to recover this machine that Jennifer Exbrayat, naturopath and magnetizer of 37 years, and Yvon Exbrayat, forest operator of 52 years from Haute-Loire, returned to their family chalet in Ségur-les-villas early Saturday morning.

A building that the man partly built with his own hands, and where they left their 13-year-old daughter on her own a little over a fortnight ago.

Their vehicle, the Isuzu brand truck reported missing by the gendarmerie, was seen by neighbors who hastened to contact the police.

On their arrival, the soldiers noticed the disappearance of the snowmobile. They set up a search device and found the couple in the neighboring town of Vernols, at the same place where the truck used to transport wood that Yvon Exbrayat was driving the evening of his disappearance was found.

What was behind closed doors a month ago in this chalet, a little out of the way, located on the heights of the village of Ségur-les-villas? Why did Jennifer and Yvon Exbrayat, who had apparently quarreled just before the first disappearance, that of the husband, on November 17, decide to flee, together, leaving behind their 13-year-old daughter? For the moment, Yvon and Jennifer Exbrayat are walled in silence.

Relief, anger and incomprehension

Jennifer Exbrayat’s mother, contacted by our newspaper, explains that she “felt immense relief” when she learned that her daughter and her husband had been found safe and sound, and in good health. “Followed by anger and incomprehension”. She regrets that both have “moved away from their respective families”, and breathes: “I do not know my grandchildren, but I think about them a lot”. The girl, in particular, placed but still in school, seems to have a bad time in this situation: according to The mountain, she ran away for a few hours last Tuesday, before being found during the day, still in the same neighboring town of Vernols. Shocked and refusing to eat, she had to be hospitalized. Did she know her parents were hiding nearby?

Yvon, “a somewhat withdrawn personality”

Cassandra met them in August 2018 in Claux (Cantal) during a concert by the “festive Auvergne folk” group Wazoo, which Jennifer seemed to particularly appreciate, since she filmed several of their concerts in Auvergne. This acquaintance remembers a couple “who didn’t let people think things were going wrong for them.” According to her, “Jennifer was nice and nice, their daughter was kind and shy. »As for Yvon, the husband, he had a personality« a little withdrawn but kind ». The mayor of Saint-Didier-en-Velay goes further, qualifying him as “everyone”.

Words that do not contradict this member of Yvon’s family, contacted by The Parisian : “She has always been dominating in their relationship and has psychic superiority over him. Yvon never complained but everyone knew it. There were regular tensions around the children. This witness claims that Jennifer had accepted the birth of their daughter, “but she had never put up with the birth of the youngest.” This 12-year-old, placed following a decision by the juvenile judge, is one of the mysteries that still surrounds the couple. Why was it placed? In Ségur-les-Villas, where the Exbrayat were poorly integrated, rumor has it that it is an abandonment of the parents.

A decision taken together?

Psychological ascendant of one over the other or not, this decision to “run away from reality”, to use the words of a childhood friend of Jennifer, seems to have been taken together. Was it matured for a long time, or decided without premeditation, following Yvon’s disappearance? Was her departure staged, as were the wanted notices Jennifer sent to several Facebook groups sharing worrying disappearances? All these questions will be raised by the Saint-Flour gendarmerie, in charge of this atypical investigation to say the least. When contacted, the Aurillac Public Prosecutor’s Office was not in a position, at the time of our appeal, to inform us of the progress of the investigations.

What legal consequences?

At this point, Yvon and Jennifer could be prosecuted for child abandonment, as they could be found guilty of breaching their legal obligations to their 13-year-old daughter, who has been placed in a children’s home since the disappearance of his parents. It is followed by social services.

According to La Montagne, the case was entrusted to an investigating judge in Aurillac, not targeting any specific offense in the immediate future. The couple would also be targeted by other legal proceedings, prior to their arrival in Cantal.
