Montpellier 4-1 Angers
Goals: Savanier (14e), Mussel (30e), Ristic (51e) and Mavdidi (77e) for Montpellier // Pereira Lage (45e+1) for Angers
There it is, the match with the most goals in this Ligue 1 evening (tied with the stunning Lille-Bordeaux)! With a fairly wide winner, Montpellier having dominated and rather mastered Angers during the nineteenth day, even if the figures may indicate the opposite (46% possession of the ball, nine shots to thirteen).
The locals started the meeting with an achievement registered even before the quarter of an hour of play, Savanier transforming a direct free kick. Fifteen minutes later, the striker turned into a passer on a corner very poorly managed by Bernardoni which benefited Cozza. The reaction of visitors? It was delayed, but finally intervened in additional time of the first half: on a new free kick badly returned by the opposing defenders, Pereira Lage reduced the mark of a nice recovery.
Except that the MHSC extinguished the hopes of the SCO as soon as they returned from the locker room, Ristić deceiving Bernardoni with a cross shot after being found by Mavididi. A Mavididi who, rebounding from a strike from Germain, drove home the nail at the end. Enough to destroy the little suspense that remained despite the attempts of the Baticle team (Fulgini, Ounahi, Boufal on several occasions, five stops from Oumlin including some magnificent …) and to get closer to the podium (two units behind only Nice, runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain, and Olympique de Marseille which has one game less). The Angevins, them, slip into the second part of the table.
The slab was obviously Montpellier, this Wednesday.
