A man, interned at the Marchant psychiatric hospital in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), was arrested on Monday January 24, after escaping from the establishment in the morning, reports France Bleu Occitanie. He was arrested a few hours later by police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC), 2.5 kilometers from the hospital. The man had no casualties. Aged 48, he was declared criminally irresponsible after the murder of two people.

This escape comes five days after another man managed to escape from the same hospital. On Wednesday, a 34-year-old former soldier fled the psychiatric establishment, prompting the immediate mobilization of hospital caregivers and law enforcement. During his run, he attacked a Toulouse woman in the street while she was walking her dog. She had received several blows with a broomstick. The man, who suffers from a very acute form of schizophrenia, was arrested and again interned at the Marchant hospital. In November 2013, after five days of wandering, he killed a 90-year-old man in Nouilhan (Hautes-Pyrénées) with a stick, before eating his heart and tongue.

According to a former nurse at the Marchant hospital, the establishment is a large park surrounded by a fence, specifies France Bleu Occitanie. If a patient manages to get out of a closed pavilion and the alert is not given, he can easily end up in the street.
