The snow will intensify in the Alps, the Pyrenees and the Massif Central this Saturday. Météo France places eleven departments in orange “snow-ice” vigilance from 8 pm this Saturday. These are Creuse, Corrèze, Puy-de-Dôme, Ain, Isère, the two Savoies, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Ariège and Haute-Garonne.
“Snowfall or ice in significant proportions are expected” in the next two days, according to Météo France, which explains that “the traffic conditions can quickly become very difficult on the whole network”, with “some damage that could affect the electricity and telephone distribution networks.”
According to Météo France, “It is snowing lightly from the Alps to the Pyrenees this Saturday afternoon from an altitude of 500 to 800 m from north to south.” These snowfalls will intensify in the evening of Saturday and Sunday “on all the massifs”. In the Alps and in the Jura, between 20 centimeters and 40 centimeters of snow are expected. In the Massif Central, between 10 centimeters and 30 centimeters of snow are expected.
Météo France therefore calls for limiting travel this weekend in these eleven departments as much as possible.
