JUSTICE – New troubles at the Mediterranean Infection University Hospital Institute (IHU). Dr Magali Carcopino-Tusoli, daughter of Didier Raoult and her husband, Xavier Carcopino, have filed a complaint against a relative of the professor for “defamation and insults”, reveals an investigation by World, published this Wednesday, January 12. The Assistance Publique des Hospitals de Marseille (AP-HM), a founding member of the IHU and one of its main financial backers, will be a civil party alongside the plaintiffs.
A specialist in vascular medicine working at the Sainte-Marguerite hospital in Marseille, Magali Carcopino-Tusoli claims to be the victim of cyberstalking by the biochemist Éric Chabrière. The reason? On social networks, she declared in particular that some scientists “should not be idolized” and that the Covid-19 “does not give a damn about fantasies of grandeur”, reports the daily.
A hearing on February 4
Positions that clearly called for caution against the allegations of his father Didier Raoult who promoted a treatment based on hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19 and who has long been skeptical about the effectiveness vaccines.
The position of Magali Carcopino-Tusoli, the first of her 3 children, born of a first union, would not have pleased the entourage of Didier Raoult. According to The world, like other people who have criticized Didier Raoult’s work, she would have been cyber-harassed by a cell within the IHU responsible for defending the professor online, including Éric Chabrière. A first hearing is scheduled for February 4, following the complaint of Didier Raoult’s daughter.
Last December, the microbiologist received a reprimand from the Order of Physicians, which ruled that he had violated the code of medical ethics by promoting hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19. He was also indicted for alleged illegal “clinical trials” against tuberculosis at the IHU. Charges he denied.
