David Lisnard president of the AMF, a “snub” for Emmanuel Macron

POLICY – A logical consequence, given the stakes of this election. After the victory of Mayor LR David Lisnard as President of the Association of Mayors of France this Wednesday, November 17, several executives of the right-wing party are savoring what is perceived as a defeat of macronism. This Thursday, October 18 on RTL, Valérie Pécresse, candidate for the LR Congress, did not hold back.

“It’s a snub for Emmanuel Macron, who wanted to keep the mayors of France in line,” tackled the president of the Île-de-France region, while the mayor of Cannes won against the mayor of Sceaux Philippe Laurent, deemed “macron-compatioble”. Before her, another contender for the nomination of the Republicans, Eric Ciotti, had also drawn on Twitter.

”The election of David Lisnard marks the Waterloo of macronism. There will only remain of the so-called new world contempt for the territories and the French ”, reacted the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, before settling some personal accounts with regard to former LR having crossed the Rubicon of macron-compatibility: “I warmly thank Renaud Muselier and Christian Estrosi for their decisive contribution to the election of David Lisnard. Their support for the Macronist candidate will have offered Emmanuel Macron a historic defeat ”.

“Mr. Macron, your attempt failed”, added the national vice-president of the Republicans Gilles Platret, also mayor of Chalons-sur-Saône. “Our old association remains independent at the exclusive service of the municipalities”, he said. added. Note that it is not only with Les Républicains that we take advantage of the outcome of this vote to hit the head of state. As for the National Rally, Marine Le Pen believes that “the election of David Lisnard at the head of the AMF constitutes a heavy defeat for Emmanuel Macron”.

Same interpretation for the southerner Philippe Vardon who, like Eric Ciotti, takes the opportunity to tackle his Provençal opponents, Renaud Muselier and Christian Estrosi. “Make no mistake about it: in this affair it is they who played the card of political and partisan maneuvers”, estimated the elected Nice.
