The prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne) announced, Tuesday, December 14, to have opened a criminal investigation for “aggravated murder” by “the spouse or the partner” of the victim, after the discovery of the body of a fatally stabbed in Sommepy-Tahure, in the same department. Monday, around 8 p.m. “the gendarmerie was informed by the firefighters of a probable feminicide which occurred in the marital home”, said the prosecution in a statement.

The victims, “a 43-year-old woman was discovered in the kitchen fatally injured by several stab wounds to the chest and throat”, added the prosecution. The murder weapon “was found near the body: it is a kitchen knife with a 15 cm blade, covered in blood to the hilt”.

As is “currently known elements”, the victim would have “announced wanting to separate in November from her spouse” 47 years old. “Neither was known to the police or the judiciary and no previous violence had been reported.”, according to the prosecution.

After the facts, the victim’s husband, “questioned”, “would have taken the wheel” and allegedly contacted one of the couple’s children by phone, telling him “to have stabbed his mother” and announcing to him “his intention to end it”. He then “deliberately hit a heavy weight coming in the opposite direction” and died in the collision.

“The driver of the truck, who could not avoid it despite emergency braking, is shocked and slightly injured”, said the prosecution, specifying that the couple had three children aged 16 to 21.
