Macabre discovery on the rails of Marseille. On the night of September 13 to 14, 2021, a maintenance agent employed by SNCF discovered, in the trash can of an Ouigo train parked at Saint-Charles station, the lifeless body of a newborn baby. According to BFM Marseille, who spoke with a police source, bloodied toilet paper was also seized at the scene.
The train had arrived in the Phocaean city shortly before 9 p.m., from Lille, BFMTV said. An investigation was immediately opened and entrusted to the brigade of minors of the departmental security, in order to determine the circumstances of the abandonment of the child and to trace it back, if possible, to the person responsible. Investigations should also determine whether it is a fetus or an infant. For the time being, no information has been communicated on the progress of the investigation.
In Pontoise, an infant abandoned in a garbage bag
Particularly sinister, these cases of postpartum abandonment are unfortunately not uncommon. Last February, the Cergy police officers discovered the lifeless body of an abandoned infant in a trash bag at the foot of a building in Pontoise. Her mother, a 19-year-old teenager, had presented to René-Dubos hospital the day after the birth, but the emergency services could not do anything to resuscitate her baby.
