The villa from the movie House of Gucci available on Airbnb!

When you want to stay in a star’s house, head to Airbnb. The rental platform recently offered to rent the apartment of Carrie Bradshaw, the heroine of Sex and the City, the house of Winnie the Pooh, or the houses of artists like Monet or Gaudi. This time, it is a sumptuous villa that is highlighted: the Villa Balbiano.

Located in Italy, on the shores of Lake Como, this historic palace is at the heart of Ridley Scott’s new film, House of Gucci. It serves as a home for Patriarch Aldo Gucci in this new Hollywood blockbuster.

Villa Balbiano over time

Villa Balbiano was built at the end of the 16th century at the request of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio. It was extended a century later by its new owner, Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini. This one welcomed in the villa “a gallant and frivolous society where parties, banquets and dances followed one another relentlessly”, explains the owner of the house on Airbnb.

Nowadays, the villa is still dreaming as much, it being one of the largest private residences overlooking Lake Como. It must be said that everything is spectacular, inside and out. To begin with, therefore, with the direct access to Lake Como, but also with its large garden, distinguished by the British Society of Garden Designers. There is also an outdoor pool, private jetty and boathouse.

Inside, you will have the choice between “six luxurious suites in the main palace, each individually designed by renowned interior designer Jacques Garcia”, with marble bathrooms. Its historic interiors are decorated with works of art and furniture from centuries past, from Sotheby’s and Christie’s, and 17th-century frescoes painted by the brothers Recchi and Agostino Silva still decorate the walls.

“With its illustrious past, an unrivaled blend of man-made and natural beauty, Villa Balbiano is one of the most glamorous spots on Lake Como. Spending a night at Villa Balbiano is sure to be unforgettable”, concludes the announcement published on Airbnb.

However, the house seems to have been a victim of its success. All the proposed dates seem already unavailable. If you want to stay in this palace, you will have to be very responsive, and count on a cancellation.
