Netflix movie about Edgar Allan Poe gets big casting

The next Netflix movie The Pale Blue Eye on the invented youth of Edgar Allan Poe unveiled his big cast.

If Edgar Allan Poe’s writings have been adapted for cinema several times, notably with the series of films directed by Roger Corman, the novelist himself has become a source of inspiration for the big screen, and a full character. After Shadow of Evil, an investigative thriller about the fictitious life of the writer played by John Cusack, the film The Pale Blue Eye – adapted from the novel by Louis Bayard published in 2006 – will relate the invented youth of the author, when the latter was attempting to solve a series of murders at West Point Military Academy in 1830.

This fake biopic will be written and directed by Scott Cooper, whose name was recently on the horror movie poster. Hungry. The filmmaker had been looking to adapt the book for over a decade, while Netflix spent nearly $ 55 million to put its logo on the feature film. The small dishes were therefore put in the big ones, with in particular a very engaging cast.

Harry Melling and Anya Taylor-Joy in The Lady’s Game

In playing the lead role, Harry Melling (Harry Potter) will continue to rebuild a career after the successful series The Lady’s Game, the film The Devil, all the time and to a lesser extent the adaptation of The Old Guard. The actor will also star in the highly anticipated The Tragedy of Macbeth by Joel Coen before giving the reply to Christian Bale, who will play the detective in charge of the case and with whom he has already collaborated for the films The fires of anger and Hostiles.

More recently, Deadline unveiled the rest of the cast, which has some good surprises in store, starting with the arrival of the fantastic Gillian Anderson, known – among others – for having played Scully in X-Files, but also for his roles in the film The Last King of Scotland and the series The Crown, Hannibal, or Sex Education.

The rest of the cast will also include Fred Hechinger, Robert Duvall, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Joey Brooks, Brennan Cook, Gideon Glick, Matt Helm, Steven Maier and Charlie Tahan. Details on the exact identity of each new cast member have yet to be revealed, as has the release date.
