Hall of Game: The best crossovers between movies and video games

Video games and cinema have always been linked. Adaptations from one medium to another, numerous references… The two cultures have benefited over the years from an ever stronger bond, and today we are going to address a different manifestation of this connection: we come back to these games that benefited from the appearance of movie characters. We are therefore not talking about real adaptations of films in games, but rather of cameos and winks of cinema in games which a priori did not have much to do. In short, the best crossovers between movies and video games!

Darth Vader and Yoda – Soul Calibur IV

Small, it was very difficult to apprehend

Soul Calibur games have stood out over the years for their many crossovers (we remember in particular the arrival of Link in Soul Calibur II). And Soul Calibur IV is no exception, since it allows players to embody if they wish two famous characters from the Star Wars license: the famous master Yoda and the arch-nemesis Darth Vader. Available in the form of DLC, there was even a small controversy concerning one of them, Yoda being particularly strong thanks to his small size which made him difficult to attack.

James Bond – Forza Horizon 4

James Bond is certainly no stranger to video games. Goldeneye 64 is undoubtedly one of the most cult games in history, and one of the games that allowed the democratization of the 3D FPS genre. But it is sometimes found in less obvious games, such as when it interfered in Forza Horizon 4, the famous racing game. In a DLC, players could thus benefit from the most famous cars of the James Bond license: Aston Martins! We therefore find the model of Casino Royale, but also that of Goldfinger or Goldeneye.

Evil Dead, Scream, Halloween… – Dead By Daylight

Ash is here!

What could be better than a game where you play a serial killer against a few innocent people to add a little horror? In Dead By Daylight, a whole bunch of extremely well-known licenses from horror cinema are present. Thus, the game allows those who wish to embody both the famous bloodthirsty monsters that are Michael Myers, Pinhead or even Ghost Face, but also those who have been able to face evil during all these years: Ashley Williams, Laurie Strode, Amanda from Saw… In short, all the popular horror cinema has made an appointment there!

Freddy Krueger – Mortal Kombat

An enemy that should not be underestimated

Absolutely no one expected it when it happened: Freddy Krueger, one of the most iconic characters in horror cinema (born in 1984 in the Claws of the Night), appeared in the famous fighting game Mortal Kombat in 2011. It was available in a DLC putting it seriously. Since then, other well-known characters from the cinema have been able to join him, such as Robocop or Predator.

Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters – Rocket League

Cars from various movie licenses

Much like Fortnite, Rocket League has had its fair share of licensed cinematic content over the years. Thus, players were able to take advantage of the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, Kitt from Knight Rider or the DeLorean from Back to the Future as playable vehicles.. Enough to give yourself a lot of strength to score as many goals as possible!
