four premieres at the LGBTI + film festival

Last year, “Face à Face” had to reduce its edition to a virtual version. It took place over a single evening, symbolically the 1is December for World AIDS Day.

A voguing masterclass

This year, the film festival which promotes LGBTI + culture (lesbians, gays, bi, transgender, intersex) hopes to find its audience and continue to “bring back young people,” explains Sabrina Askelou, head of programming, who specifies that the ‘event is open to everyone’. From December 3 to 5, a dozen films will be screened at Méliès Saint-François, including new ones on the big screen and four in preview: Shelter : Farewell to Eden , The Engaged (season 3, 3 episodes), Welcome to Chechnya and Great Freedom. Marie Cau, the first transgender mayor of France (elected in May 2020 in Tilloy-lez-Marchiennes in the North), was to be the godmother of the 16e edition in 2020: “She wishes to run for president”. Sohan Pague, a 22-year-old trans actor, singer and director, best known for his role as Max in the show’s last three seasons Shame , was chosen to sponsor the 17e edition: “He will be present throughout the festival. Transidentity will also be a topic addressed, in particular through an opening documentary, ”explains Samuel Hutsebaut. The president of the event refers to the film Shelter : Farewell to Eden which will be screened in the presence of the film crew (Friday December 3). Other guests are planned for certain sessions: Sacha Comeau, Sullivan Le Postec and Adrian De La Vega (series The Engaged ), young LGBT refugees and asylum seekers ( Welcome to Chechnya ) and Lasseindra Ninja (main character of the documentary Fabulous ). The latter, “international icon of the voguing scene”, will also give a masterclass on Saturday 4 December, from 11 am to 1 pm, at the Patricia-Martin studio (1).
