ExpoCité relies on film shoots for its relaunch

The director of ExpoCité, Catherine Chénier, presented her vision to the members of the municipal council of Quebec on Tuesday morning during a plenary committee on the 2022 budget.

We are now part of the Quebec Film Sourcebook, since we realized that we have good spaces that could be of interest to Quebec productions, among others., specifies the director of ExpoCité.

The Quebec Film Sourcebook is a catalog with many filming locations in the province.

Ms. Chénier specified that filming had already taken place on the ExpoCité site, but that this sphere of activity could be an interesting avenue for increasing traffic.

A balanced budget

ExpoCité is recovering from a difficult year, due to the pandemic, in particular, and containment.

A deficit budget of $ 2.2 million will be recorded in 2021. Unfortunately, what had been projected has turned out. On the other hand, in 2022, expenditure equivalent to income is forecast, i.e. $ 10 million., underlines Catherine Chénier.

Asked about the number of visitors to outdoor spaces, such as Place Jean-Béliveau and the wooded area near the Grand Marché, the director explained that without a ticket office, it is difficult to estimate the exact number of visitors.

We are going to work on a method to know these data. But in 2021, we can say that a few hundred thousand people came, she believes.

She adds that the traffic on the indoor and outdoor sites of ExpoCité has not returned to normal pre-pandemic, but it’s not catastrophic at all, at all.
