Like every day, from Monday to Friday, discover the essentials of the Gard sport news in a few infos.
“False accusations.” Indicted, after 48 hours in police custody, for “resorting to underage prostitution” and placed under judicial supervision this Wednesday evening, Sidy Sarr posted a message this afternoon on his Instagram account. “Many of you were worried about my current situation, to reassure you I am at home and tomorrow I will resume my work as I love football”, writes first the midfielder of Nîmes Olympique before discussing this legal case. “None of this was true, it’s false accusations, people who wanted to dirty”, ensures the Senegalese international. It remains to be seen how Nîmes Olympique will position itself on this issue, which could in particular decide to separate from the player, as was the case in the past in other cases that the football world has known.
Martinez absent for at least a month. In addition to the three points against Ajaccio (0-2), the Crocos lost Monday night their captain Pablo Martinez left injured at the hour mark. Yesterday, the former Strasbourg resident had an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) which revealed a deep calf injury. His absence is estimated at a minimum of one month. The central defender should therefore miss four meetings (Guingamp, Niort, Sochaux, Quevilly) with the hope of being back on December 4 against Rodez. For the trip to Brittany on Saturday at 7 p.m., Pascal Plancque will be able to count on the suspension returns of Cubas, Koné and Doucouré. Bratveit (knee) and Fomba (adductor), with whom the club sees day to day, remain uncertain.
Fabien Ordoñez new referent supporters. On departure but still officially in the club’s organizational chart, the director of operations, Laurent Tourreau, no longer occupies the role of referent supporter. Since the start of the season, it is the director of security, David Guichard, who has been the link between the groups of supporters and the management. But recently, a new referent has been appointed. This is Fabien Ordoñez, in his forties, supporting Crocs for many years. Close to Rani Assaf since his arrival at the club, according to our information he occupies this position on a voluntary basis. Contacted via their president, the 2013 Nemausus, say they do not wish to discuss with him, in particular because of comments made by the latter on a supporters’ forum. The Gladiators, on the other hand, claim “never refuse dialogue”.
Abandoned subscriptions? Asked about the subject by Gard objective during the last public consultation meeting, Rani Assaf did not really settle the issue of subscriptions in the provisional stadium and in the final stadium. “I don’t know. There will certainly be some but maybe not in all the stands”, he replied. Before concluding : “It will depend on my relationship with supporters associations.” The president also announced that all the car parks of the future stadium would be chargeable, including on match nights. “I will think about setting up a reasonable price, but at some point not everything can be free“, he justified.
A shock for Alès. Yesterday evening, the drawing of lots for the 6th round of the Coupe de France took place where seven Gard clubs are still involved before the entry of Nîmes Olympique (L2) to the next round. It is a beautiful duel which awaits Alès with the reception of Blagnac on Saturday October 30 at 8 pm. It is neither more nor less than the first two of the N3 championship who will face each other before finding themselves in the championship 20 days later. On Sunday 31 at 2:30 p.m., after eliminating Lourdes (R3, 3-2) in the previous round, Langlade Bernis (D2) will try to reproduce such a performance against Alberes / Argeles (N3). Just like Chusclan Laudun (R3) who receives Saint-Estève (R1) after having achieved a feat by eliminating Béziers (N2, 2-0). Undecided match between Vauvert (R2) and Frontignan (R1) as well as during the meeting Uchaud (R2) – Nîmes Chemin Bas (R2), the only one between two Gard clubs. Concerning Rousson (R1), a reservation is in progress after the match of the 5th round against Toulouse Rodéo won 2-1 by the Gardois. If their qualification is official, the Cévenols will travel to Haute-Garonne to face Toulouse Métropole FC (R1).
Bring your toys! The popular relief of Nîmes was severely affected by the September floods. A meter of water flooded some warehouses which resulted in a considerable loss on all the stocks of toys which were intended for the children of Gard for Christmas. So the USAM, through its president David Tebib (see video above) decided to show solidarity by organizing a large collection of toys during Saturday’s match at 8 p.m. against Toulouse. Spectators are invited to bring toys to Parnassus. They will be collected by the volunteers of the Secours Populaire de Nîmes who will redistribute them to the most disadvantaged children in the region.
