These actors of series who have decided to change profession

Jack Gleeson (Game Of Thrones), Jennifer Stone (The Wizards of Waverly Place), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) … All these actors have in common to have moved away from the spotlight in order to exercise a completely different profession.

1. Dylan Sprouse’s acting career is no longer his priority

Dylan Sprouse is a familiar face to those who grew up with the Disney Channel. He played Zack in the series The Palace Life of Zack and Cody, alongside his brother Cole. If the latter shines in the teenage series Riverdale, Dylan, meanwhile, has decided to put his acting costume in the closet for a new career. After resuming his studies from 2011 until 2015, the young man opened his “All-Wise Meadery” brewery in 2018 in Brooklyn. He therefore now manages this business, while continuing to shoot in films and series on a very occasional basis.

2. Jennifer Stone, from actress to nurse

Her name might not ring a bell, but Jennifer Stone has been an iconic Disney Channel figure. She plays Harper, the best friend of Alex Russo (Selena Gomez) in The Wizards of Waverly Place. This role brought her to fame, but she very quickly withdrew from the world of rhinestones and sequins to become a nurse. She also announced her new job in 2020 on Instagram, posting a photo of herself in uniform to emphasize that she supports her colleagues in the fight against Covid-19.

3. Jack Gleeson changed careers because of harassment

Game Of Thrones has been a phenomenon during its airing years, although the ending has disappointed fans. This fiction has propelled some actors to the height of their glory, like Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) or Kit Harington (Jon Snow) to name a few, but others have decided to step back from the limelight.

This is the case of Jack Gleeson, who plays the terrible Joffrey Baratheon in the series. This role had an impact on his private life, as he received numerous death threats and hate messages. Jack Gleeson, who regretted becoming famous, decided to lead a quieter life by resuming his studies at Trinity College to major in philosophy and theology.

In France, Game Of Thrones is to see, or review, on MyCanal and OCS.

4. Erik Estrada makes peace reign

It was in 1977 that landed on the small screen Chips, which chronicles the adventures of police bikers Jon Baker and Francis Ponch. Both try to reign peace in this series which has become legendary over the years.

Jon Baker and Francis Ponch have thus become essential characters on the small screen, one played by Larry Wilcox, and the other by Erik Estrada. The latter also decided to make a career in the police decades later: he joined the Saint Anthony police department at the age of 67, and in particular tried to protect children against predators on the internet.

5. From the “Prince of Bel-Air” to the storyteller of true stories

The prince of Bel-Air is undoubtedly one of the most cult series of the 90s. Worn by Will Smith, this fiction has kept its popularity decades later. While some actors have continued their careers, others have taken another path. This is the case of Karyn Parsons, who lent her features to Hilary Banks in the iconic sitcom.

When The prince of Bel-Air bowed out, she tried to continue her acting career but failed to land big roles. She therefore decided to give up this environment and found “Sweet Blackberry”, a non-profit organization where she tells little-known stories of African-American people. A beautiful project that she was able to build in part thanks to the notoriety acquired during the Prince of Bel-Air.

The series is available on Amazon Prime Video.

6. Lark Voorhies became a writer

Saved by the Bell is another cult series from the 80s and 90s, where you follow a bunch of friends in a high school. Among that small troupe is Lisa Turtle, played by Lark Voorhies, who unfortunately failed to make her mark as an actress after the series ended.

But the young woman did not let herself be defeated, since she decided to embark on painting and writing books. It is she who publishes and edits her works, and she has also released three books to date: Reciprocity, Trek of the Cheshire and A True Light.

7. The eventful career of Andrew Shue

Andrew Shue is best known for playing Billy Campbell in Melrose Place. But before he rose to fame, the actor was a top soccer player with Zimbabwe’s Highlanders Football Club.

After Melrose Place, he did not decide to return to his first love, namely the football, but preferred to start his own business CafeMom. It is nothing less than a forum where mothers could communicate with each other in order to share their experience and give advice. The forum was then closed in 2018.

8. The many projects of Frankie Muniz

Frankie Muniz is best known for playing Malcolm in the namesake series, alongside many big stars. A role that propelled him to the height of his glory and which promised him a long and beautiful career.

But the ex-star of Malcolm decided otherwise. Tired of filming, Frankie Muniz turned to motor racing and continues to compete in this field. Unfortunately, he had to draw a line on his races after an accident. Now he is at the head of his own company where he sells olive oil!

Malcolm is available in full at jump.
