the young star of “Star Wars” ended up suffering from a mental illness

Not all celebrities live a fairy tale. This story is a bit like that of a famous star of the big screen, Jake Lloyd, the actor of “Star Wars”. Indeed, the handsome brunette ended up suffering from a serious brain disease, which gradually consumed him.

In the list of the greatest movies the world has ever known, you can certainly count “Star Wars”. As this release continues to be one of the biggest franchises in movie history, the actors who worked on the show have become equally legendary. Among these is the famous name of Jake Lloyd.

If everything promised the latter a bright future, the actor ended up leaving the stage shortly after starring in the film Iconic. It’s time to take a look back at his personal story, and find out the reasons why Jake Lloyd decided to leave the popular scene.

Jake Lloyd was born in 1989. It was in Fort Collins, Colorado, that it was born. Even before reaching adolescence, the young boy took his first steps on television, with a role in the television series “Jimmy Sweet”. According to IMDb, it was therefore in 1996 that he entered the world of the seventh art.

That was not all, because that same year he also starred in the movie “Unhook the Stars”, with Gena Rowlands and Marisa Tomei. Very quickly, Jake had been designated as the child star to follow. He then began to gain notoriety, playing several iconic roles such as Young Angelo, Timmy and Ronny Collins in the television series “The Pretender”.

Before making history for good, the actor starred as Jake in the TV movie “Host”, a sci-fi thriller starring Peter Gallagher, Mimi Roger and Andy Comeau.

It is therefore thanks to this notoriety already well acquired, that he had succeeded in winning a rose in one of the biggest Hollywood Franchises, “Star Wars”.

In the first film of the “Star Wars” trilogy, Lloyd played the role of young Anakin Skywalker. He also lent his voice to several video games based on the film, such as “Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing” “Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and“ Star Wars: Racer Revenge.

While he already had a well-established notoriety before starring in the series, the film brought him a level of recognition and fame that he never expected. This is how he obtained the Young Artist Award, for best supporting role, for his interpretation of Skywalker.

Although his career and his work were appreciated by many people, some found fault with these services. Some fans then shared a lot of criticism of his performance, trying to put the character as low as possible.

Although Jake was still very young at the time, fans poured out on him, with tremendous anger. According to Jar Bink, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the film, had taken a stand in this controversy.

“I’m still mad at the way they treated Jake Lloyd. He was only ten, that little boy, and he did exactly what George [Lucas] wanted him to do “.

Because of his newfound fame, the young boy was the object of a lot of jealousy in school. According to Best Life, Lloyd once reported that the other kids were still very mean to him.

“My whole school life was hell, and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day,” which would have been overwhelming for anyone, and even more so for a young child… “

After starring in the famous film, the actor decided, perhaps for his own good, to retire from the popular scene. According to ScreenRant, once in college, Jake studied Psychology, before dropping it all off after just one semester.

It all changed in 2015 when news broke that he had been arrested, for reckless driving and for resisting arrest. Shortly before this incident, he also allegedly assaulted his mother. She later revealed that her son had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Lisa, Jake’s mother explained that her son had not taken his medication for some time.

After her son’s arrest, Lisa explained to the media that the actor had “come to her house, and started yelling at him”. According to her, he blamed her for wasting his life. The latter would have knocked him down, trampled three or four times, causing him bruises on his arm.

In revelations to TMZ, Lisa explained that her son started showing some signs of schizophrenia when he turned 19. She insisted all the same that her son had received help in the past, and that he would receive more.

Although the unexpected event was difficult for the mother, Lisa claimed that her son was far from a bad person. It is certainly for this reason that she did not intend to let him sink, and intended to do everything to help him.

After having to overcome all this pressure being very young, Jake decided to get rid of his old demons in his own way. To do this, he cut everything that connected him to the franchise. According to the news, he refused even to watch episode 1 of the film, and blamed “George Lucas” for not having known “to meet the expectations of the public”.

He had only reprise his role of Anakin for five video games. In addition, Jake had revealed to reporters that he had learned to hate having cameras aimed at him, “except, of course, when he attends fan conventions, where he can then autograph photos of. these cameras and make them pay for that privilege. ”

He now remains far from the world of Show-business, and the world now knows very little about his evolution. If this can help him get better, everyone wishes him lots of luck.
