his father disowned him years later

Known for his role as Kevin McCallister in “Home Alone,” Macaulay Culkin quickly became a child star. Sadly, the money that came with her fame tore her family apart.

Although he became a child star, his career began to stall when his parents split up and began arguing for custody of the children and wondering who would run Macaulay Culkin’s career and fortune.

Macaulay Culkin removed his parents’ names from his trust and let a lawyer handle the situation. Years later, his father revealed that he no longer viewed Macaulay Culkin as his son.

ABOUT MACAULAY CULKIN

Macaulay Carson Culkin was born August 26, 1980 in New York City to former Broadway actor Christopher Cornelius “Kit” Culkin and Patricia Brentrup. Her parents, however, were never married.

Macaulay is the third child in a family of seven. His brothers Kieran and Rory, as well as his sister Quinn, are also actors. Macaulay began his career at age four when he appeared in the theatrical production “Bach Babies”.

He began studying the performing arts as a child and trained at Balanchine’s American Ballet School while appearing in numerous television commercials.

He made his film debut in 1988 in the drama “Rocket Gibraltar”. He appeared in “See You in the Morning” and “Uncle Buck” the following year.

In 1990 he rose to fame for playing the lead role of Kevin McCallister in the comedy “Home Alone”. The film is an international success, and Macaulay suddenly becomes a young star.

For his role, he won an American Comedy Award, a Young Artist Award and was nominated for the Golden Globes. In 1992, he resumed his role in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”, another worldwide success.

He appeared in several mainstream films such as “My Girl” in 1991, “The Good Son” and a film version of “The Nutcracker” in 1993.

The following year he starred in “Getting Even with Dad”, “The Pagemaster” and “Richie Rich”. After the last film, he got bored of acting and wanted an everyday life.

In 1995, her parents separated, resulting in a long custody battle that lasted two years. During this time, Macaulay, who had become the highest-paid child star, decided not to take on new roles until his parents settled their custody dispute.

MACAULAY’S FAMILY PROBLEMS

Macaulay was just 14 when his parents, Kit and Brentrup, separated in 1995 after being together for more than 20 years.

The actor’s parents were also his managers. Their separation led them to quarrel with raising their children and managing Macaulay’s flourishing career.

While running it, Kit and Brentrup received a 15% commission on Macaulay’s earnings. In 1990, it is estimated that Macaulay’s earnings were $ 50 million.

In June 1995, Brentrup applied for temporary custody of Macaulay and her siblings as she charged Kit with abandonment, physical violence, heavy drinking and unfaithful behavior.

She was concerned that Kit’s behavior might make no one in the industry want to work with their children again. However, while Brentrup requested sole custody, Kit requested co-management and joint custody with Brentrup.

Producers have accused Kit of harassment, extortion and blackmail. His reputation was so bad that he was described as the “Stage Father from Hell”.

Kit had threatened to remove Macaulay from the “Home Alone” sequel if he was not given a serious role in “The Good Son”. The drama with his father made producers and directors think twice before hiring Macaulay and his siblings.

Macaulay revealed that he and his siblings didn’t want to go with their father during the custody battle. He thought his father was a pathetic man.

As his parents fought in court, Macaulay made the impartial decision to remove Kit and Brentrup from his trust fund. He stated :

“I legally removed my parents’ names from my trust fund and found an executor, someone to look after my finances.”

Even though the press misinterpreted the move, he believes it ended their custody battle much faster. Brentrup finally got custody.

After that long battle, his father, who suffered a debilitating stroke while cooking dinner in January 2014, had no sweet words for Macaulay. He said :

“I don’t think of him as a son anymore.”

After their separation, Kit decided to move to the West with his partner Jeanette Krylowski. He also resigned himself to never seeing his children again.
