TikTok Takes Next Steps In Growing Ecommerce Push With New Business Registration Option That Will Allow Brands To List Their Business Category On Their Profile, While Also Giving Them Quick Access To New Business Features .
As you can see in this screenshot, shared by social media expert Matt Navarra (via Yasser Massod), some TikTok company profile managers can now access the new company registration option in their Business Suite settings.
As TikTok explains, it’s not the same as a verification badge, providing an added level of assurance and authority over your business identity. But by registering your business through this process, which requires the user to enter various additional business information, you can then display your business category on your TikTok profile, which will provide TikTok with another way to collect data. on business users, while categorizing pages into different segments in the app.
It could help in the next step of its ecommerce listings, better highlighting different businesses and presenting them to affected users. It could also help communicate what your business is doing and make it easier for profile visitors to buy.
Ecommerce is the next big step for TikTok. With a short video offering fewer ad placement opportunities, TikTok needs to provide other ways to generate income for creators, so that they keep posting their clips, instead of heading to YouTube or Instagram, who have more established revenue sharing systems.
In-stream purchases have been the key avenue on this front for Douyin, the Chinese version of the app, which now generates the majority of its revenue through direct in-app purchases. TikTok is looking to follow suit, with the expansion of its ecommerce listings, as well as live shopping, Shopify integration, and various other commerce related projects now well underway for the booming video app.
Business registration is a lesser element in this regard, but the ability to share your business category adds an additional level of authority to your presence in the app, while better communicating your offerings to users.
We’ve asked TikTok for more details on the option and what the Early Access element entails, and we’ll update this post if / when we hear back.
