The French trust companies more than the state to change the country

83% of French people have a good image of companies, an increase of 5 points compared to 2020 and 12 points compared to 2017, according to an ifop survey carried out for the Medef *. 67% of private sector employees even say they are proud to belong to their company.

High expectations placed in companies

For what reasons ? Because they believe that companies are places of training (for 83% of respondents), transmission (81%), integration (80%), innovation (79%), social dialogue (69% ) and personal development (65%). This eminently social role recognized by the French for companies leads them to place high expectations in them.

“On the part of the French, there is recognition of the ability of companies to act, which has been reinforced by the crisis. The Doctolib example has shown that companies could be more efficient in carrying out operational missions poorly assumed by the State ”, analysis Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, President of Medef.

Thus, the company is the second actor on which the interviewed panel counts the most to improve the situation of the country (34%), behind the citizens themselves (47%), but ahead of the State (33%), local elected officials (29%), schools (24%), unions (14%), the European Union (13%) and NGOs (7%).

Employment, gender equality, ecology: companies on all fronts

On which social issues can companies exert a positive influence according to the respondents? The increase in living standards, gender equality, ecological transition, wealth creation, improvement of working conditions, improvement of competitiveness, job creation and innovation. Huge program!

The employers’ organization wishes to rely on this survey to formulate by January 2022 proposals to the candidates for the presidential election.

Professional equality between men and women: rather encouraging results in 2021
