The company, which is a family-owned Mexican tequila company called Flecha Azul, was co-founded by Mexican PGA Tour golfer Abraham Ancer and his business partner Aron Marquez.
Wahlberg told CNN, “It’s funny because when it was first mentioned to me I said ‘absolutely not’.
“You have all these other people claiming to have been to Mexico and created tequila and grown agave and stuff.
“They were like, ‘that’s not what it is, we have two amazing guys who are really young and who share the same ideas.’
“I just said I would like to invest in them. “
Of course, Wahlberg visited the distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. It has been the home of the tequila company since 1840, and remains today, but with a load of celebrity money behind it.
“I said I wanted to put my money where my mouth is and write a big check [sic] and get involved with your brand and use [sic] all my resources.
“Everything we have we are going to exploit and use [sic] for this brand to be as successful as possible. “
So, at the moment, you can only get Flecha Azul in California, Texas, Nevada, and Georgia.
However, they are going to take the brand nationwide soon, and you have to imagine that they will go global before too long.
There are five types of tequila à la minute – Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Cristalino et Extra Añejo.
Speaking of the membership of its illustrious business partner, Ancer said it was “obvious”.
“It was just like it was meant to be. He tried Flecha Azul and loved it, ”he said.
“Our goal was to bring in a tequila made in the traditional way without any short cuts. It is extremely important for me to honor [sic] my culture and the families who have dedicated their lives to making tequila. “
