Cherbourg: undergoing strong growth, this company is moving and diversifying its activity

On the Bénécère area at Cherbourg (Some), the groupe has just moved into a new building, built right in front of its 2,500 m2 of workshops.

It was important to maintain this proximity.

The 850 m2 building, the design of which was entrusted to Boisroux-Peeters office and construction at local businesses, wants to give a new image to the group.

Strong growth in three years

The services accounting, human resources and quality have moved there fifteen days ago, as two of the subsidiaries : Probent Access, which takes care of logistics and on-site assistance, and Probent Project, which brings together all the engineering.

AT upstairs, the three partners now have their offices: Sébastien Cuquemelle, Ludovic Letouzé, Managing Director, and Philippe Lerossignol, Administrative and Financial Director.

“We are ideally located, very close to Naval Group, Orano and EDF, our main customers. But it is a new impetus that the leaders of the group want to engage.

We took over the company in 2018, with a workforce of 36 people. We are now 190, with an average age of 44 years and a good rate of feminization, a turnover of 17.5 million euros, establishments in Bayeux, Colombelles and Vélizy.

But the activity developed towards the prototyping and the pre-series of electronic cards, the provision scaffolding, which occupies 50 full-time people, the oil also or the defense space.

During the confinement, Probent was able to continue its studies and costing activities, allowing a quick restart from production.

The objective is to consolidate our historical clientele and to diversify into other sectors. We have structured ourselves to claim larger projects. With a design office of 18 people, we can offer turnkey services.

The difficulty, he observes, is recruitment. “We had to refuse certain contracts because of it. Our recruitment plan for 2022 is about fifty people. We are very involved in training operations, the welding of course the piping, the scaffolders… There is little turnover with us. Here, a boilermaker makes his part from start to finish, and our employees appreciate this approach. “
