9 characters from series and films that we love but that we should hate (you have to see reality in the face …)

Joe Goldberg, Edward Cullen, Chuck Bass … We love his characters yet their acts are detestable.

It’s scientifically proven that many people are drawn to villains, baddies, unhealthy characters. They are sometimes more charismatic, more interesting, funnier … These definitely bad characters, however, attract sympathy to the point of, sometimes, legitimizing the atrocities they have committed. We are talking about multiples passionate murders by Joe Goldberg of the attempted rape of Chuck Bass, of break-in by Edward Cullen or by throw a child over a tower like Jaime Lannister. Whether it is of our own free will or a manipulation of the realization, here is 9 loathsome characters that we love all the same.

9 hateful characters we love: the bad boy effect and forbidden love

Very often romanticized, villainous characters often find their way into the most beloved characters in a series or movie. The bad-boy characters then become real favorites. Forbidden love is often what legitimizes the atrocities that the characters may have committed, so we think of Joe and Love in YOU, Chuck and Blair in Gossip Girl, Jaime and Cersei in Game of Thrones, or Edward and Bella in Twilight.

9 loathsome characters we love: repentant wicked

Even when love does not play a role in this romanticization, there are certain achievements that make you love, or at least have compassion for the character. Drago Malefoy in the saga Harry Potter and Loki in the Marvel universe are both considered villains in their universe but they manage to conquer the hearts of the spectators Nevertheless.

However, this view of realization can, at times, become unhealthy, as can be seen in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. In this biopic dedicated to Ted Bundy, the serial killer is painted as a victim during ¾ of the film. A misleading interpretation that can sometimes lead to compassion for a serial killer.
